I don’t know any successful money-earning travel blogger that only blogs and does nothing else. In this business, it takes more than having a WordPress setup. Your travel blog should be your store front for what you’re really selling. There’s are endless options out there on how you can create an income. These travel bloggers have expanded their business models beyond their own travel blogs. They’ve taken it to the next level and using their travel blog to promote their product or services.
Jeremy Jones from Living The Dream RTW
He self published his own book called The Long-Term Traveler’s Guide. It’s available both in digital and (very soon) in an actual book. I’ve followed Jeremy for years and I’ve seen his progress from preparing for his trip to having a blog and now writing a hugely resourceful book for travelers. I could tell from his status updates on Facebook that he worked hard on his book and spent many hours on every little detail.
What’s clever is he’s using the community he gathered from his own blog Living The Dream RTW AND from travel bloggers he has gotten to personally know through the years of travel blogging. I’m actually in his book too! Another reason to get it.
Torre DeRoche from Fearful Adventurer
She went from self-publishing her book to being sold by big publishers and a movie deal within a few months. She told us in her article about her experience that it all happened so fast.
I remember seeing a comment on one of the Facebook travel blogger groups which I found to be great. I don’t know where the exact quote is now or I’d show you but she tells us that if she spent her time on Facebook groups and talking about travel blogging rather than actually working, she wouldn’t have a book at all.
Brock Groombridge from Backpack with Brock
I’ve never seen any other travel blogger do something like this. Brock personally helps you on how to travel the world. He’s selling a product for what he wants to be known as, a travel expert. He guides his clients on planning a trip, what to bring, where to go, and what to expect. His blog is proof that he’s an expert in travel so really it’s an easy sell. Read more on his coaching program.
Marcello Arrambide from Wandering Trader
I’ve been hired by Marcello to work on his Day Trading Academy website. He sells his knowledge on his new site with a full course, forums, and personal training. He charges thousands for this. He uses his Wandering Trader website to blog about his adventures and then Day Trading Academy to help others live a similar as his.
Shannon O’Donnell from A Little Adrift
You might recognize Shannon from our SEO webinar. Together with Andy Hayes, she’s created Get Traffic Now – SEO Guide eBook. She does SEO consulting and is now living in Chang Mai, Thailand. Check out her travel blog A Little Adrift.

Thanks for the mention! I fully agree with the thought that travel blogging is only a stepping stone. You forgot that you made an iPod app too!
